Is A Pura Diffuser Worth It?

Considering purchasing a Pura diffuser for you or a friend? I&#;m sharing my honest review of this smart home fragrance diffuser and if its worth the buy.

You will get efficient and thoughtful service from EZONG.

As someone who loves for my house to smell good (and will go out of my way for my house to not smell like dogs), I was intrigued when I first heard about the Pura diffuser. A device that lets you control your home&#;s fragrance remotely using an app on your smartphone? Count me in! I had seen a few influencers talking about it, but I was always a little hesitant, because I like to sniff before I buy and I couldn&#;t figure out a way to do that with Pura.  Then, Pura did a pop-up here in D.C. so I could see it in person and I decided to dive all the way in. After a couple weeks of use, I&#;m sharing my experience with the Pura diffuser, covering its cost, scent longevity, safety, and how to refill it. Plus, I&#;ll detail the pros and cons I&#;ve encountered along the way.

My Honest Pura Diffuser Review

Let&#;s start with the basics. The Pura Smart Fragrance Diffuser can scent up to 1,000 square feet of your living space and is available in two main options: a single unit or sold with fragrance. At the time of my purchase, the single Pura V4 diffuser was priced at around $49.99, while the duo pack (diffuser plus two fragrances) was available for $71.99. It looks like the older version of the diffuser (the V3) is still available for $44.99. The device features a night light (you can change the color in the app), and the ability to create schedules for your scents.

I opted for the combo with two fragrances and chose my favorite scent that I discovered long ago Anthropologie: Capri Blue. There are hundreds of scents to choose from, including special holiday scents (think pumpkin and cozy Christmas scents), by brands you probably already know or look familiar.

How Long Does Pura Last?

One of the most impressive aspects of the Pura diffuser is its incredible scent longevity. Each fragrance bottle lasts for approximately 120 hours. What&#;s more, you can customize the intensity using the Pura app, allowing you to prolong or shorten the life of your chosen scent, as well as create schedules for your scents to diffuse. This flexibility not only ensures your home always smells good, but also means you won&#;t have to replace scent bottles as frequently, ultimately saving you money in the long run.

Is A Pura Diffuser Safer Than Candles?

While I can&#;t deny that I love candles, they do come with risks. Here&#;s the Pura breakdown when it comes to safety:

Flameless Operation: Pura relies on an ultrasonic nebulizer to disperse fragrance into the air, eliminating the risk of an open flame. This is particularly reassuring if you have kids, pets, or worry about fire hazards in your home.

No Smoke or Soot: Unlike candles, Pura doesn&#;t produce any smoke or soot, which not only ensures cleaner air in your home but also prevents any unsightly staining on your walls and ceilings. This is especially great if you are a renter and worried about damaging your rental home.

Customizable Timers: The Pura app allows you to set schedules and timers, ensuring the diffuser turns off when you choose. This adds another layer of safety by preventing it from running unattended. I always turn ours off when we aren&#;t home, just in case.

Remote Control: I don&#;t want to talk about how many times I&#;ve left the house and been like &#;Shoot, did I put the lid on that candle?&#; With the Pura app, you can control the diffuser from your smartphone, even when you&#;re not at home. This feature enhances safety by allowing you to monitor and adjust the device from virtually anywhere.

Pura also operates under the &#;Pura Promise&#; which promises a commitment to environmental and social responsibility. It&#;s worth noting that Pura fragrances are created without acetaldehyde, diclorobenzene, ethylhexanol, formaldehyde, GMOs, methyl pyrrolidone, parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, styrene, or animal testing.

Refilling Your Pura Diffuser

Refilling your Pura diffuser very simple. Here&#;s how I do it:

Unplug the Diffuser: Before refilling, I always make sure the diffuser is unplugged to avoid any electrical mishaps.

Open the Diffuser: Gently remove the top cover of the Pura diffuser to access the fragrance bottle slot. I made the mistake of thinking it was a twist off cap when I first got mine, but the front cover just pops off.

Remove the Empty Bottle: Carefully take out the empty fragrance bottle. It should pop right out.

Replace with a New Bottle: Insert a fresh Pura fragrance bottle into the slot, ensuring it pops in securely, and scan it using your Pura app to make sure the device registers a new scent.

Secure the Cover: Place the top cover back on the diffuser and press it down gently to ensure it&#;s locked in place.

Plug It In: After refilling, I plug the diffuser back in and control it using the Pura app on my smartphone.

Pros and Cons of Pura Smart Fragrance Diffuser

Pros:

Customizable Scents: Pura offers a vast array of fragrances that I can mix and match to create my own unique scent profile.

Long-lasting: The impressive 120-hour lifespan of each fragrance bottle makes it highly cost-effective. With two scents

Safety: Flameless operation and remote control enhance safety, which is a significant relief for me.

Smart Control: The Pura app allows me to schedule, control, and monitor my diffuser from anywhere, making it incredibly convenient.

No Smoke or Soot: Pura eliminates the problems associated with burning candles, such as indoor air pollution and staining.

Duo Pack Option: The duo pack is perfect for scenting multiple rooms or gifting to friends and family.

Cons:

Initial Cost: The upfront cost of the Pura diffuser may be higher compared to other plug-ins.

Ongoing Costs: While the fragrance bottles last a long time, the expense of purchasing refills can accumulate over time.

Wi-Fi Dependency: A stable Wi-Fi connection is necessary for the Pura app to function effectively.

Is A Pura Diffuser Worth The Cost?

After having my Pura for a few weeks now, I can honestly say yes, it&#;s worth it if you can afford the splurge. I won&#;t lie, the price intimidated me at first, because it is an investment. That said, being able to control the scent in my home (including how much or little I want) from an app on my no matter where I am is something I definitely enjoy. I think there is a good assortment of scents (including many you probably already know and love since Pura partners with many fragrance ateliers). Something I noticed that is unique to Pura (in my experience) is just how far the scent carries. I only have one Pura plug-in at my house and I can smell it almost everywhere on a medium setting. Pretty impressive!

The 4 Best Essential Oil Diffusers of

After our tests of more than a dozen different diffusers, the Urpower 2nd Gen 300ml Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser &#;our pick since &#;continues to be the best choice.

An essential oil diffuser offers a simple way to make your home smell nice without the use of scented candles or incense.

If your top priority is a strong smell, go with a nebulizer. This model is pricier than our top ultrasonic pick and harder to clean, but it&#;s unbeatable at filling a room (or a few) with scent.

This compact model is the most attractive diffuser we recommend, but its smaller tank doesn&#;t last as long as our pick&#;s, and its mist isn&#;t as powerful. It&#;s also far pricier.

With a larger, 500 mL tank, this diffuser doesn&#;t require refills as often. However, it takes up more space than our top pick.

This diffuser produces a strong mist and lasts several hours between refills. But you have to cycle through every light option to turn it off.

Most diffusers are made of plastic. Even those advertised as &#;stone&#; or &#;wood&#; are still plastic inside.

The best diffusers have one simple, easy-to-clean lid. Decorative double lids can look pretty but can involve more disassembly.

Most of our picks are ultrasonic: They create a cool mist of water and drops of oil. Nebulizers diffuse pure essential oils only.

The Urpower 2nd Gen 300ml Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser is a simple white plastic cylinder in a field crowded with funny shapes and faux wood. It&#;s one of the least expensive diffusers we&#;ve looked at, yet it works better than models four or five times the price.

The medium-size tank provides water for around seven hours; you need to add more oil during that time for continued scent. The machine lights up in seven colors (two brightnesses each), but you have to cycle through all those options to turn the light off. It offers a timer function, it has LED indicator lights that aren&#;t distractingly bright, and it&#;s easy to keep clean.

If our top pick is sold out or you&#;d like a bigger tank, we recommend the Urpower 500ml Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser, a larger version of our top pick. It produces the same strong, rich mist as its smaller counterpart does.

At nearly double the tank size of our top pick, this 500 mL diffuser requires fewer refills&#;and it has a low-output mode that can run for up to 16 hours. However, a diffuser of this size also takes up more space. Like our top pick, it comes with a faux-wood base or in all-white. It also lights up in seven colors, has a timer similar to that of our pick, and is easy to clean between uses.

We&#;ve frequently seen the price for this larger version be lower than that of our top pick, but often some colors are sold only via a third-party seller on Amazon instead of Urpower itself. (In general, we prefer not to link to third-party sellers; we have bought from this one, though, and have had no problems.)

If you&#;d prefer a diffuser that looks nicer and you don&#;t need to diffuse scent in a large space, we recommend the Vitruvi Stone Diffuser. With a ceramic shell available in several neutral colors, it&#;s a stylish diffuser that still emits a decently strong mist and is easy to use.

It&#;s one of the few diffusers we tested with a truly subtle indicator light (positioned on the back of the unit), making it the best choice if you want to run it while you&#;re sleeping. The tank is small, though, at 70 mL, so you have to refill it more often, and the two layers of lids make cleaning and refilling slightly more annoying than with our top pick and runner-up. At around $100, it&#;s also considerably pricier.

If you want a device that does the best job of dispersing scent in a large space or across multiple rooms, and you don&#;t mind spending more money, the Organic Aromas Raindrop 2.0 Nebulizing Essential Oil Diffuser is a nebulizer that mists pure oil. (In contrast, our ultrasonic picks dilute the oils with water.)

Unlike with our other picks, the colored lights on this diffuser are more subtle, and it doesn&#;t issue a constant visible stream of mist; instead, it produces a subtle intermittent spritz every other minute. Compared with other models of its kind, it&#;s less expensive, prettier, and far quieter, as nebulizers typically make loud grinding or buzzing sounds.

The Raindrop 2.0 runs for two hours, and an automatic shutoff helps you avoid overdoing the smell. Like all nebulizers, it&#;s annoying to clean.
