I'm not sure which path is the best. I don't want to waste my materials on any that aren't going to be useful. Which prosthetic is the best to upgrade do you think?

Long Spark Firecrackers are the most universally useful prosthetic tool in the game.

Really? I've barely touched my firecrackers.

They are able to create openings anywhere you want them. Whether it's stopping a dangerous attack you're bad at deflecting/avoiding, getting a few free hits or just to create a buffer zone to heal without danger.

Sounds good. How many can you actually fully upgrade in one playthrough?

You need at least two playthroughs in order to get enough of the final material for the last tier.

My favorite has to be the umbrella and shuriken.

The final 4 upgrades require 10 lapis lazuli between them. You only get 6 per play through and they're all very missable. So in 1 run you can fully upgrade all but 2 prosthetics if you get enough lapis lazuli or all but 4 if you don't.

You can get almost everything. The Lapis is rare so it probably takes two games to get it all. Everything else you can get as loot.

Just upgrade everything. Farther you are up the upgrade tree the more likely rare drops happen in your game.

Best stuff is the spiral spear, long spark, Okinage flame, fire mist raven, lazulite shuriken, all the umbrella, all the fingers, and post-patch the fire axe.

This. Also get at least one spear upgrade to use against headless ape.

Personally, Sabimaru helped me versus Snake Eyes and O'rin but it's definitely not required.
It's also worth noting that axes apparently got buffed with the recent 1.03 patch but I've never used them against bosses anyway.

Which final Prosthetic upgrade is most useful in the last boss ...

Or even the last couple of boss fight in general, not just the final fight. Which would you recommend? I don't like going for all the Lapis Lacuzi (sp?) so i'll go for 1 or 2 final upgrades.

The Shrinuken's final upgrade looks nice.

Kiss my ring, it's a Frank White thing.

Do those work on final boss?

IMO only prosthetic worth using on the final boss is the shield but the first level is enough.

By far, the fire umbrella. It's so OP, the other tools don't come even close.
It protects you from any attack, however deadly it might be, and allows you to counter, adding fire damage, and all that for 1 Spirit Emblem.
It's insanely OP as it allows you to negate ANY enemy move in the game AND counter almost any of the boss ultimate moves (a few rare moves are so strong they push you away, even though you don't lose health, you can't counter).
In a sense, it's a life saver, the same way the Water Gourd is, except that you have to use it preemptively instead of after losing health.

The final upgrade for the umbrella is a massive help for the last bit of the game in general. One of the bosses and the last area.

Spiral Spear is just one of the best prosthetic in the game.

Lazulite Shuriken does have the best ranged damage to spirit emblem ratio of the tools. So if you care about that, probably worth it.

I am snazzier, hot, hot rant. Mutilated praise.
Croak rush, OK? Weirder, almighty make out. ::)

This is true but for the final boss, you can actually just normal deflect his windslash. Shield just means you don't have to time it.

Firecrackers, it's a easier way to deal with him because you can get 2 hits on him.

Maybe idk... spiderman?
